The Public Domain

On January 1 of this year, a number of famous works were dumped into the public domain, their copyright having finally expired. Included in this batch of authors are greats like Agatha Christie and Robert Frost. However, the most exciting work to enter the public domain in my lifetime is The Great Gatsby  which will enter the public domain in 2021, a mere two years away! This article  popped up on LitHub suggesting that this change in copyright on Fitzgerald's best-known work will lead to an onslaught of fan fiction based on the novel. Personally, even though Gatsby  is one of my favorite books of all time, I think I'd be much more inclined to write Agatha Christie fanfic. In other news, Jessica Vestuto lived my dream when she moved into the Beacon Hill apartment that was once home to Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes. Other than that, I have very little to say. I'm in thesis hell, getting ready to finish the last semester of my MFA in Creative Nonfiction. I'm going to
