Cats and Computers

It's day one of NaNoWriMo and already he's trying to thwart my progress...

Evil beast. That said, my novel Lake Dead (still a working title...opinions? Suggestions?) is my chosen novel and is currently a featured horror read on WriteOn and it's a prequel/sequel to Hospital Hill. If you've read any of HH on WriteOn, you'll find out a little bit more about Valerie Martin in LD as she takes Anna Gilman on as an intern at Westborough State Hospital and shows her the ropes but warns her not to settle in because the asylum is closing soon. Anna doesn't listen and instead watches the hospital start to crumble around her until one day a new patient shows up: Peter Roderick, a literature professor who has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Peter is handsome, intelligent, and charismatic. Most of all, he's sympathetic when Anna begins to fear the noises in the dark and the whispering voices in the back wards that have been closed for years. But can she trust Peter as an ally? He is after all schizophrenic, but something draws her to him until one night Peter Roderick is nowhere to be found.

*Cue creepy music*

That's my pitch and I'm sticking to it. At least until the end of November. Then when edits start I'll rip it apart and make it something completely different. SO THERE.

On another note, Yesterday marked the anniversary of the first printing of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes so below is a photo from LitHub of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle mugging it up with none other than Harry Houdini. Happy anniversary to the man whose mysteries drove my love of all things needing solving!

And a happy NaNoWriMo to all my fellow writers!
